Datta Mandir

This famous temple of Pune is known as Dagdu Halwai Datta Mandir. Devotees residing in Pune and around often visit this temple and offer their prayers. Everyday, Poojas are performed twice. On Thursdays, several special poojas are performed which attract a great number of people. 

Datta mandir is few minutes walk from the famous Dagaduseth Halwai Ganpati Temple Pune. Deity of dattta is encompassing the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, collectively known as Trimurti. The name Dattatreya can be divided into two words - "Datta" (meaning given) and "Atreya" referring to the sage Atri, his physical father.

About 100 years ago one pious lady in the Pune city late Smt. Laxmibai Dagdu Halwai, installed a Datta Temple as per the advice of her Guru viz. Shri Madhavnath of Indore, who was a great devotee of Lord Gurudatta. The late Madhavnath had visited Pune. There is a shrine and Gadi of Shri Madhvnath in the old city of Pune. There are several desciples of Madhvnath scattered allover the country.
